The Gypsy Lore Society (GLS) is an international association of persons interested in Gypsy and Traveller Studies. It was founded in Great Britain in 1888. Since 1989 it has been headquartered in the United States. Its goals include promotion of the study of Gypsy, Traveller, and analogous peripatetic cultures worldwide; dissemination of accurate information aimed at increasing understanding of these cultures in their diverse forms; and establishment of closer contacts among scholars studying any aspects of these cultures. The GLS publishes the twice-yearly Romani Studies (continuing Journal of the Gypsy Lore Society), a quarterly Newsletter (for more information go here).
2014 annual meeting of the GLS and Conference on Romani studies
The event will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia, September 11 to 13, 2014 at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Mlynské Luhy 4, Bratislava. The meeting and the conference are being organized on behalf of the Gypsy Lore Society by The Institute of Ethnology, Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, in cooperation with Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Comenius University, Bratislava; Representation of European Commission in Slovakia; Roma Institute, Bratislava and Slovak Association for the Study of Religions, Bratislava.
